Steelers’ James Farrior Considering Retirement

Long-time Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Farrior could be thinking about retirement.

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Farrior has been a staple in the Steelers' dominating defense the past decade, starting for the team since 2002 after coming over from the New York Jets. Farrior finished up the 2012 season playing just 14 games, notching 78 tackles and two sack.

Farrior could be looking at retirement, however, according to Chuck Finder.

Agent Ralph Cindrich told KDKA-FM over the holiday weekend that client James Farrior, for a decade the Steelers’ defensive captain and ILB, hasn’t fully decided if he’ll retire. But they have talked with the Steelers about a potential news conference.

If Farrior retired, he would join long-time Steeler Aaron Smith as the Steelers begin to transition to the younger players they have drafted over the past few seasons from the older veterans who have comprised one of the best defenses in the past 10 years in the NFL.
