The Jacksonville Jaguars signed cornerback Drew Coleman in the 2011 offseason to a three-year, $7.4 million deal to be their nickelback on defense. Coleman played in all 16 games for the Jaguars and played nearly half of the defensive snaps, picking up two sacks and two interceptions.
Jaguars Release Drew Coleman
The Jacksonville Jaguars have released Drew Coleman, the team announced in a press release.

On Thursday, the team announced that they have released Coleman, who was due to make $1.75 million in salary for the 2012 season. The release is a bit curious, but the Jaguars did sign Aaron Ross in free agency this offseason and drafted cornerback Mike Harris in the sixth-round, who compares to Coleman as a player.
The team also saw good play from cornerback William Middleton, who started in place of the injured Rashean Mathis and Derek Cox before going down with a season-ending injury. All three are expected back, as well as Ross and two draft picks from the past two NFL Drafts, so it could have just been a numbers game for Coleman.
