The Andrew Luck era has started. Luck, the No. 1 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, participated in his first practice with the Indianapolis Colts. Reports out of practice are similar to what we've been hearing all along -- Luck is a "natural leader" and he was "brilliant as ever" in his first practice.
Andrew Luck’s First Practice With Colts Is In The Books
It's just a practice, which shouldn't mean much, but it's the dawning of a new era in Indianapolis. The Colts move on from Peyton Manning and look to Luck, the most pro-ready quarterback since, well, Manning. The practices this time of year aren't much -- players aren't in pads -- but it is the first time for the team to get a look at their No. 1 pick.
The Indianapolis Star pulled a few quotes from other players after the practice, via Stampede Blue:
Receiver T.Y. Hilton, a third-round draft choice, admitted he was nervous but said Luck “settled me down.”
Fleener said of his friend Luck, “He’s the same Andrew. He’s as brilliant as ever.”
He said Luck was already calling plays “with like 30 words in them.”
Check out SB Nation’s Stampede Blue for the full report on his first practice, including why Luck, and not Peyton Manning, is wearing a red jersey.
