The Jacksonville Jaguars first round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, wide receiver Justin Blackmon, was held out of the team's final day of rookie mini-camp dealing with a sore foot.

“He was just sore and we just felt like, ‘Was it worth the risk? Why push it any more?” Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey said after practice, via the team’s official website.

“We saw what we needed to see,” Mularkey told reporters after practice. “We got a good chance to install and be around him, and him be around us. We just thought it would be smart on our part, and on his part, if we held him out of the drills and had him ready when OTAs start here in about eight days.”

Under previous head coach Jack Del Rio, the Jaguars had a tendency to severely downplay minor injuries that wound up being major ones, but as Mularkey said, there is no reason to push Blackmon in a May practice if his foot is bothering him. The team is still discussing if the injury warrants Blackmon having an MRI.

The Jaguars will hit the practice field again on May 15 for a few days of organized team activities.
