The Oakland Raiders used the franchise tag on Tyvon Branch, preventing him from hitting unrestricted free agency. Initially Branch was not going to sign his tag but plans to now, according to Jason La Canfora of NFL Network.

As La Canfora notes, both sides are still trying to work out a long term deal. Under the franchise tag, Branch is set to make $6.2 million for the 2012 season. Branch was originally a fourth-round draft pick by the Raiders in the 2008 NFL Draft and has been a full-time starter for the team since 2009, starting all 16 games each year.
