Fred Jackson and the Buffalo Bills have agreed to terms on a multi-year contract extension, the team announced Monday. Though the Bills didn't reveal any details, Jackson confirmed himself that the deal is for two more seasons, meaning he won't be an unrestricted free agent until after the 2015 season.
Fred Jackson, Bills Agree On 2-Year Contract Extension
Fred Jackson agreed to a two-year extension with the Buffalo Bills on Monday. He was very productive in 2011 before his season was cut short by a broken leg.
Signing Jackson to an extension has been a priority for GM Buddy Nix and the Bills throughout the offseason. Jackson was putting up stellar numbers through 10 games last season before breaking his leg. He finished the year with 934 yards rushing and six touchdowns on 170 carries. The Bills went 1-5 after Jackson left the lineup after starting the year 5-5.
The Bills look to feature a formidable running attack during the 2012-13 season. With the addition of defensive pieces like Mario Williams in the offseason, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Co. hope they won't have to throw as much playing catch-up. Jackson, with C.J. Spiller adding a nice change of pace, could have even more opportunities to produce assuming he stays off the injury report.
