Minnesota Vikings GM Says No Percy Harvin Trade Coming

Minnesota Vikings GM Rick Spielman told the media on Wednesday afternoon that the team had no intentions of trading disgruntled wide receiver Percy Harvin. According to Jeremy Fowler of the Pioneer Press, that was pretty much the extent of Spielman's comments on the situation with Harvin.

Spielman added that Harvin remains a central part of the team’s plans going forward, praising his talent and love for the game. The general manager did point out his history of extending player contracts in the final year of their deals. It was a notable statement given that Harvin has two years left on his contract.

Money might not be the only matter at hand in the Harvin situation. Fowler noted earlier, citing a pair of sources that the contract was not the only issue behind Harvin’s recent unhappiness. What other issues may be at play, were still not clear.

Harvin saw his snap count reduced last season. He was also part of a committee for kick returns last season, returning just 16, for a very productive 520 yards and one touchdown, after returning at least 40 in the previous two seasons.
