Now that the New York Jets offseason program is complete, the next big story to focus on is whether cornerback Darrelle Revis will show up to training camp. Considering he didn't skip the Jets' mandatory minicamp, it seems logical to assume he won't miss training camp, where the fines increase significantly.
Darrelle Revis Unsure Of Training Camp Holdout
But you never know with Revis, who held out just two years ago. Reportedly interested in a new deal, Revis said he is unsure if he will attend Jets training camp, which starts next month.
“I don’t know,” the Jets all-star cornerback said when asked if he’ll report to camp on time. “That’s up to (general manager) Mike Tannenbaum. I really don’t know.”
The only leverage players have in these situations is to withhold their services (i.e. not show up to training camp). Revis is one of the best players in the NFL, so he does have some leverage. The Jets need him.
This is a story to watch as as the Jets’ camp will open at the end of July.
