Hunter Cantwell is a Louisville Cardinals alum who went undrafted in the 2009 NFL Draft and spent the past three seasons with the practice squads of the Carolina Panthers and Baltimore Ravens. When the Jacksonville Jaguars wanted him to potentially be a third-string quarterback for them heading into the 2012 season, Cantwell declined the offer, opting instead to go into coaching.

Hunter Cantwell has decided to leave the NFL to focus on college coaching. He will become the new quarterbacks coach at Campbellsville University.

WPSD Sports reports that Cantwell is the new quarterbacks coach at Campbellsville University in Campbellsville, KY, where he will be serving under his former Paducah Tilghman High School head coach Perry Thomas.
Cantwell had contacted Perry Thomas back in the winter about the possibility of getting into coaching. Thomas said he was interested in bringing Cantwell onto his staff but he had no openings at the time. After some changes over the summer, Thomas now has an opening -- an opening Cantwell is ready to fill.
Thomas said that Cantwell gave an exemplary interview for the position and acts as though he’s been coaching for years.
