The Seattle Seahawks violated no-contact rules during their recent offseason team activities (OTAs), the NFL Management Council and NFLPA announced jointly on Tuesday afternoon. As a result of the violation, the team will lose OTAs on June 6 and 7, as well as another workout scheduled for June 8.

Terms of the 2011 collective bargaining agreement are strict with respect to offseason workouts. The labor deal regulates the number of days on which teams are allowed to have their players on the field between the end of the season and training camp, and stipulates that there can be no contact at those practices. The CBA also cut down on the number of days teams had for OTAs and other spring workouts.

It is not all bad news for the Seahawks players. They are not allowed to be at team facilities on those three days, but they do get paid for them. Seattle is not allowed to reschedule the three lost practice days later in the offseason.
