The Jacksonville Jaguars are hoping to improve upon a borderline disastrous 2011 season in the fall. To that end, they're attempting to shore up their roster for the upcoming season, and need to make some tough decisions on which players to retain and which to let go.

Adam Stites at Big Cat Country reports that the Jags have released veteran defensive end Aaron Kampman. The team announced the move in a Thursday press release. Kampman was set to make just under $5 million with the team in 2012.

Kampman started strong with the Jaguars after signing with them in 2010, but ended up spending the majority of the past three seasons on the injured reserve list. The Jaguars likely feel that Kampman’s propensity for injury is not a risk they wish to continue carrying.

With the release, Kampman becomes an unrestricted free agent.
