Rob Gronkowski’s Contract Details From Patriots

The details of Rob Gronkowski's contract extension with the New England Patriots is starting to come out. It's a six-year extension on top of the two years remaining on his previous deal. There is reportedly $54 million in new money in the extension, putting the total just under $56 million over eight years, which is an average of just under $7 million per year.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com, the initial new money will come in the form of a $8 million signing bonus. His 2012 and 2013 base salaries remain the same, which are $490,000 and $575,000. The deal includes new base salaries for 2014 and 2015 as well as an option in 2015 that extends the deal through 2019.

Got all that? The keys to remember are that he gets an $8 million signing bonus and there is an option in 2015 that springs the rest of the deal.

Gronkowski just turned 23 years old. He could be a Patriot for a long time.
