Marshawn Lynch Won’t Be Suspended For Offseason DUI Arrest, According To Report

The NFL has decided to wait until the case gets resolved before making any further judgement, which in all likelihood won’t happen until 2013, keeping Lynch on the field this season. If he has troubles with the law again things could change as the league reserves the right to reconsider it’s decision. Lynch has already had a meeting with Commissioner Roger Goodell concerning this matter.

The sixth year back out of Cal signed a four-year, $31 million contract extension in March after rushing for a career high 1,204 yards and 12 touchdowns last year for the Seahawks.

Lynch, 26, has been involved in several legal incidents throughout his career. In 2008, his drivers license was revoked after he struck a woman with his car outside a bar in Buffalo, N.Y. In 2009, he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor weapons charge that resulted in a three-game NFL suspension.

Given his history, it’s possible that his NFL punishment will be more severe. If he is suspended, it’ll delay the follow-up to his breakout 2011 season. In his first full year with the Seahawks, Lynch ran for a career-high 1,204 yards with 13 total touchdowns.
