Atlanta Falcons running backs coach Gerald Brown discussed the team's plan for Michael Turner heading into the 2012 season. Brown said that the Falcons will keep a close eye on Turner's workload this season with the intention of keeping the workhorse back healthy and as effective as possible over the course of the entire season.
Falcons Plan To Monitor Michael Turner’s Carries
The Atlanta Falcons plan to monitor Michael Turner’s workload as he enters his fifth season with the team.

Michael has been our workhorse for a few years. We discussed the possibility of making sure that we monitor his reps so that he can stay strong for us through the season and into December.
Turner, who turned 30 in February, has carried the ball at least 300 times in three of his four seasons in Atlanta. Last year, he had 301 rushing attempts, totaling 1,340 yards with 11 touchdowns and an average of 4.5 yards per carry. He averages more than 20 carries per game, but his workload tailed off some last season, compared to his past with the Falcons.
Brown praised both Jason Snelling and Jacquizz Rodgers. Rodgers is expected to see more work in his second season thanks in part to having a full offseason to work with the team.
Atlanta’s rushing attack could be very effective with the right balance of Turner’s power and Rodgers’ speed.
