Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant was arrested on Monday following a Saturday domestic violence incident where he slapped his mother and pulled her hair. Bryant will now face official charges related to the assault.
Police Proceeding With Dez Bryant Domestic Violence Charge
Tim McMahon of ESPN Dallas reports that the case has been sent to the Dallas district attorney and that Class A misdemeanor charges will be filed against Bryant, according to DeSoto, Texas police captain Ron Smith.
Smith, DeSoto’s public information officer, said the police department has concluded its investigation and has opted to move forward with the charges.
“We’re done with our work,” Smith said. “We’ll file with the district attorney’s office and they’ll take it from there.”
If convicted, Bryant could face up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $4,000. This, of course, will be in addition to whatever penalty the NFL hands out for violations of conduct policies.
