The Pittsburgh Steelers have been barely managing to fit all of their highly paid veteran players under the salary cap for years and, for yet another season, they've been able to work some magic to get everyone under the cap. They've been partially aided in that by the retirement of Hines Ward, but they still need to work out a deal with wide receiver Mike Wallace before the 2012 season starts. Preferably, they'd like to get that deal done before training camp starts July 25.
Pittsburgh Steelers Training Camp Gets Under Way Wednesday
Assuming the two sides work out a deal, the Steelers are expected to be a playoff team again in 2012. Rookies David DeCastro and Alameda Ta'amu should contribute right away for the Steelers, who didn't add anyone of note in free agency. It's the same team as last year for the most part, and they should be very competitive if they can avoid the injuries that plagued them last season.
