St. Louis Rams Training Camp Starts Saturday, July 28

The road back to relevance for the St. Louis Rams will be a long one after a 2-14 finish last season. But with a new head coach, new general manager, and a slew of upcoming draft picks, that road might well start in training camp this weekend.

St. Louis hasn't been good for a while. They entered last season with eight wins in the previous two years combined. But new GM Les Snead knew it would take more than one player to turn the squad around, opting to deal the No. 2 overall pick to the Washington Redskins. They lost out on Robert Griffin III -- which is a bummer, but they already have Sam Bradford -- and instead picked up three first round picks over the next three years as well as a second rounder this year. They turned their two new picks this season into DT Michael Brockers and CB Janoris Jenkins, who will join fellow newcomers Cortland Finnegan and Kendall Langford at their positions.

But the biggest shifts for the Rams will be on the sidelines. The team brings in former longtime Titans' head coach Jeff Fisher after a one year break from coaching. His braintrust has already taken quite a hit, however, as his defensive coordinator, Gregg Williams, won't be coaching in his first year on the job due to his involvement in the New Orleans Saints' bounty scandal. Defensive playcalling will apparently be done somewhat by committee.

Success this year isn’t particularly likely for the Rams. But with young talent led by Bradford and an entirely new braintrust in charge, it seems the team is headed in the right direction.
