One year ago today NFL owners and players gathered in Washington D.C. and faced the media to announce to their fans that the NFL Lockout was coming to an end. It would take a few more days for all the details to be finalized but that press conference, and the image of Robert Kraft and Jeff Saturday embracing, are how most remember the end of the lockout.
The NFL Lockout, One Year Later
As a reminder of how crazy that day was: NFL teams were preparing for training camp, which would start in less than a week, signing undrafted free agents, signing their own free agents, tickets were going on sale, (most) employees were being reimbursed for lost pay during the lockout and we were still trying to figure out exactly how free agency was going to work. All in one day.
Even though the lockout is over, the disagreements and lawsuits between the players and the league hasn’t stopped, as the Saints bounty scandal has shown us.
