Tim Tebow ‘Not Sure’ What His Role With Jets Will Be

The New York Jets traded for Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow even after presumed starter Mark Sanchez signed an extension with the team. Speculation has run rampant ever since, with some arguing that Tebow could take over the starting quarterback job and coaches hinting that he could play a role on special teams. Tebow spoke with Stephen A. Smith and Ryan Ruocco of ESPN New York, and said even he isn't sure just how he will be making an impact next season.

“I am not sure,” Tebow said. “I think for me it is whatever I am being asked to do I do with all my heart. I try to do a great job at it. We are in day four, so [I’m] just continuing to learn and we are continuing to learn. The coaches are learning us, learning the offense, learning installs, so it’s so early in the process that I have to say I can’t give you a straight answer on that.”

Tebow certainly isn’t shying away from the competition with Sanchez, though he maintains that he will be rooting for the inconsistent former USC quarterback even while trying to take his job.

“I don’t think you have to have an attitude where you have to say, ‘I don’t want someone to do their best.’ Absolutely not,” Tebow said. “I want them to do their best. I just want to do my best and continue to develop to the best that I can be and if that’s good enough to go out there and be a starting quarterback then that is great.”
