Colts Send 2 Players To Injured Reserve

As is to be expected, the first week of NFL training camps have seen more than their fair share of injuries and question marks as players begin getting back into playing shape for the 2012 season. Over at the Indianapolis Colts camp, the news was a bit harsher, as two players have already been officially shut down for the year.

Phillip B. Wilson at the Indianapolis Star reports that offensive lineman Ben Ijalana and inside linebacker A.J. Edds are both out for the season with injuries to the anterior cruciate ligaments in their knees. The two players have been placed on the injured reserve list.

Brad Wells at Stampede Blue had previously reported that Ijalana, a second-round pick in the 2011 NFL draft, was already on the verge of getting cut before Colts camp began, so he may very well not return to the team in 2013. Ijalana only played in four games last year.

Edds had previously torn his left ACL in 2010 training camp with the Miami Dolphins, who drafted him in the fourth round that year out of Iowa. He missed all of his rookie season.
