Former NFL rushing champion and Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was arrested in Houston on Friday night for resisting arrest/search, as first reported by the Houston Chronicle's Jerome Solomon. According to Houston Police Department records, Peterson, an East Texas native, remains in custody as of early Saturday afternoon, waiting to post $1,000 bond.

Peterson is rehabbing a torn ACL he suffered in December, and by all accounts has been healing spectacularly, and could be ready for Week 1. An arrest is dangerous territory for suspension from Roger Goodell, and we’ll know more about the situation as it develops, but with the only charge being resisting arrest, it’s hard to imagine too substantial a penalty.
