The Miami Dolphins haven't had much luck with quarterbacks in the last decade and the trend continues. According to Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times, Dolphins QB David Garrard "recently had knee surgery that will sideline him." ESPN's Chris Mortensen says it's arthroscopic surgery and he hasn't had it yet, but will soon.
David Garrard Will Miss Time After Knee Surgery
Dolphins quarterback David Garrard recently had knee surgery and will miss some time, according to a report.
There’s no word on how long he’ll be out.
What a blow for the Dolphins. Not that Garrard is a Pro Bowler, but reports out of Miami stated that he was the best of three quarterbacks in the competition and likely to start the season opener.
If this report is accurate, the Dolphins are now potentially looking at Matt Moore or rookie Ryan Tannehill as their next starter, depending on how long Garrard is out. Moore was last year's starter and did a respectable job considering where he was coming from. Tannehill was the Dolphins first-round pick in April and has impressed early at training camp.
This means that the Dolphins’ preseason opener on Friday night will likely include a lot more Moore, Tannehill and Pat Devlin.
