The Houston Texans and offensive tackle Duane Brown came to terms on a new contract on Thursday. The early reports of the contract details indicate that the home-grown linesman will be staying in town for the next six years.

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that the deal is a $53.4 million extension that will keep the team’s 2008 first-round draft pick with the team through 2017. $22.08 million of the contract will be guaranteed money, with an average annual salary of about $8.9 million.

The Texans are planning on building their offensive line around Brown for years to come. With the new contract, they’ve locked down a cornerstone of their line at a reasonable rate.
