New addition Matt Flynn will once again open under center for the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday for their second game of the preseason, as Pete Carroll's young team will travel to Denver for a date with Peyton Manning and the Broncos.

The 27-year-old Flynn entered training camp as the favorite to win his team's starting quarterback gig, but has been forced to fend off impressive rookie Russell Wilson in addition to incumbent starter Tarvaris Jackson. But after his two newest faces at the position both showed flashes of brilliance in his team's first appearance of the preseason, Carroll wants to make it known that he's going to continue to evaluate the three-man race.

“I think this is where they sit right now,” Carroll told The Seattle Times on Tuesday. “Matt recognizes defenses, he’s well into that whole understanding of what is going on on the other side of the ball. It’s still a challenge for Russell to catch up with all that stuff. He’s battling to get there.”

Against a team like the Broncos where the starting quarterback is a bit more certain, the Seahawks, who are one-point underdogs heading into Saturday, will need to be atop their game in order to frustrate Manning after the Pro Bowler made his triumphant debut last week. Making his first appearance after sitting out the 2011 season with a serious neck injury, Manning reportedly felt comfortable back in the saddle, and already appears to be developing a chemistry with young receivers Eric Decker and Demaryius Thomas.

Saturday’s game at Denver’s Sports Authority Field will begin at 6:00 p.m. PST, and will be televised on both Q13 FOX Seattle and Denver’s KUSA-TV. Radio listeners can tune into 710 AM ESPN/97.3 FM KIRO and Sirius channel 113 for a full broadcast
