In the wake of the New Orleans Saints bounty scandal, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has had to dole out plenty of disciplinary actions. It appears that at the very least, he may still have some lectures to hand out.
Roger Goodell Meeting With Nick Fairley, Mikel Leshoure At Lions Training Camp
Roger Goodell attended the Lions’ training camp on Thursday. He will be speaking to a couple of Detroit players about their offseason conduct.

Anwar S. Richardson of Michigan Live reports that Goodell attended the Detroit Lions training camp on Thursday and said he was planning to talk to Nick Fairley and Mikel Leshoure later in the day. Goodell expressed disappointment in the Lions in general -- who had seven offseason arrests in 2012 -- and in Fairley and Leshoure in specific, because those two players accounted for four of the seven arrests.
“You’re an NFL player,” Goodell said. “You have to conduct yourself in a certain way and hold yourself to that standard. We’re going to expect that, and the club is going to expect that.
“I think you’re disappointed when you hear any of that, because again, it reflects poorly on themselves first, all players, and the NFL in general,” Goodell said. “Our fans don’t want to see that, so we all have an obligation to our fans to hold up that standard.
“We’re very clear with our players, our coaches, our executives, that it’s all part of being part of the NFL. Being part of the NFL is really a privilege, not a right.”
Goodell is waiting for all legal proceedings to wrap up before deciding on any fines or suspensions. The Lions could face a team fine as well, for the amount of player arrests this offseason.
SB Nation’s own Amy K. Nelson recently sat down to talk to NFLPA Executive Director DeMaurice Smith, in which they discuss the Players Association giving Goodell sole power to act as an arbitrator and much more. You can watch that video below.
