Levi Brown, the projected starter at left tackle for the Arizona Cardinals this season, tore his triceps muscle in Friday night's preseason game with the Oakland Raiders. Brown underwent an MRI over the weekend and is expected to undergo surgery within a couple of weeks.

Recovery and rehabilitation is at least three months, meaning he will likely miss all of the 2012 season. The Cardinals have the option of putting Brown on the injured reserve list, which would end his season, or keep him on the roster with hopes that he could return for the final few weeks.

Arizona does not have a standout candidate to replace Brown at left tackle. According to a report from azcentral, D.J. Young could be an option, although he spent all of last season on the practice squad. Right tackle D'Anthony Batiste and seventh-round pick Nate Potter will also practice on the left side of the line the next few weeks. The team is also expected to examine options from outside the organization.
