Dolphins Keep Stockpiling Draft Picks With Vontae Davis Trade
The Phinsider says the deal clearly shows the team is in full rebuild mode now, and has picked up multiple second- and third-round draft picks.
The team is clearly in rebuild mode, with multiple second and third round picks for 2013 now. The team appears ready to build around rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill, looking more toward the future than they are looking at today.
Davis was a former first round-pick himself and was clearly talented but struggled with maturity issues and fell out of favor with the Miami coaching staff. A second-round pick is a solid return for a player who was clearly not in the team’s long-term plans.
