The New England Patriots have struck a deal with Aaron Hernandez to keep him in Foxboro longterm.
The 23-year-old Hernandez was drafted in the 4th round by the Patriots in 2010. He broke out last year, catching 79 balls for 910 yards and seven touchdowns. In his two-year career, he now has 124 receptions for 1473 yards and 13 touchdowns.
After extending Rob Gronkowski in June, the Patriots now have both of their star tight ends locked up. New England ran more double tight sets than any team in football a season ago, so these two contract extensions were vital going forward.
