Jammal Brown Reportedly Undergoes Hip Surgery, Out 4-6 Weeks

Two-time Pro Bowler Jammal Brown will miss at least another month after having surgery Thursday to deal with a nagging problem in his right hip.

The 2005 first-round pick had surgery two years ago on a torn labrum, but reaggravated the hip just before training camp while running sprints. The right tackle had two cortizone shots to help get him into playing shape, but apparently the problem was severe enough to require surgery. The recovery is estimated to take 4-6 weeks.

Brown will start the season on the physically unable to perform list while Tyler Polumbus holds down the right tackle spot for the Redskins. Brown had been projected to be the team's starter at the spot, but hasn't been available while Polumbus has done the job throughout training camp.
