Arizona Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt went on Phoenix's KTAR radio to explain his decision to give third-stringer Ryan Lindley the start over potential Week 1 starters Kevin Kolb and John Skelton, saying that the mismatching of the offensive line wouldn't give the Cardinals enough snaps to split between the two, according to a transcript provided by Sports Radio Interviews.

Ken Whisenhunt explained his decision to sit Kevin Kolb and John Skelton in the final preseason game despite not knowing who will start Week 1 of the regular season.

Per Sports Radio Interviews:
“I don’t know if we are going to get enough snaps to evenly divide between Kevin Kolb and John Skelton, so how are you going to assess them playing a game when they are playing with two different lines against possibly two different sets of defenses?”
Whisenhunt said earlier this week that he still hasn’t made a decision on who will be the regular season starter, and that decision would be decided based on the remaining team practices.
Struggles on the offensive line have hampered Whisenhunt and his staff getting a good look at either quarterback in game situations, but he said he'd like to firm up the line with D'Anthony Batiste at left tackle and Bobby Massie at right tackle to begin the preseason finale against the Denver Broncos. That combination appeared to work against the Tennessee Titans in last week's preseason loss, Whisenhunt said.
While Whisenhunt reaffirmed that Lindley wouldn’t get the start no matter how well he plays, he added that he’s anxious to get a look at the rookie quarterback out of San Diego State with the starting unit.
