B.J. Raji’s Ankle Injury Isn’t A Cause For Concern

It appears the Green Bay Packers dodged a bullet in their final preseason game on Thursday night. Defensive tackle B.J. Raji suffered a left ankle injury on the first play of the game during the Packers' 24-3 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, but after the game head coach Mike McCarthy told reporters he isn't too concerned about the health of his DT going forward (via the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel):

"I don't have a high level of concern about B.J. Raji's ankle right now based on the information I was given and also talking with B.J.," coach Mike McCarthy said. "First play of the game, that's not a good feeling."

Raji did not return to the field after leaving with the injury on the first play, and he emerged from the locker room with a heavily taped ankle after halftime, but Raji's teammate Daniel Muir also told reporters he didn't think the injury was serious, although Muir did add that he had not been told anything definitive.

The Packers have high expectations heading into the regular-season, and now Raji and the Packers will get focused on preparing for the season opener against the San Francisco 49ers on Sept. 9.
