The Washington Redskins will be releasing running back Tim Hightower on Friday, according to a report by Grant Paulsen.
Tim Hightower Released By Redskins, According To Report
Hightower was attempting to return to the team's running back rotation after tearing his ACL last season. He practiced in pads for the first time since the injury on Aug. 22 prior to playing in Washington's final preseason game against the Colts last Saturday.

Originally drafted by the Arizona Cardinals with the No. 149 overall selection in the 2008 NFL Draft, Hightower was acquired by the Redskins via trade when the club sent defensive end Vonnie Holliday and a sixth-round pick to Arizona in 2011.
Hightower appeared in five games with the Redskins rushing for 321 yards and one touchdown on 84 attempts.
