Greg Childs Injury: Knee Injury Puts Vikings Rookie Out For The Season

The Minnesota Vikings confirmed that rookie wide receiver Greg Childs tore his patellar tendons in both knees on Saturday. He will miss the entire 2012 season as a result.

Childs will undergo surgery on both knees in the week ahead. The news comes as a blow to the Vikings, who were counting on the promising young player out of Arkansas to contribute this season, especially while Jerome Simpson serves his three-game suspension to start the season.

The seriousness of Childs’ injury is hard to understate. He tore his patellar tendon during his junior season at the University of Arkansas. He did play in 2011, struggling on the field as he slowly got back to 100 percent.
