Trent Richardson’s Injury Will Require Surgery, According To Report

The Cleveland Browns will be without running back Trent Richardson for a while. Richardson will be undergoing arthroscopic surgery on Thursday for a bothersome left knee, according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer. It looks like he'll be missing the Browns preseason opener, and likely more preseason games.

ESPN reported that Richardson is expected to be ready for the season opener, if not sooner.

Richardson missed Tuesday’s practice with the team and did not speak to the media regarding the reasons why but he was spotted with a sleeve on his leg. He left Cleveland on Wednesday to visit Dr. James Andrews, who operated on his knee in February.

The surgery is to remove a “tiny piece of cartilage”, according to the report. A report on Wednesday said the surgery is “not a big deal” but a pair of surgeries before he plays in his first NFL game will raise some eyebrows. The Browns used the third overall pick on Richardson last April.
