The younger brother of Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Marcell Dareus was killed in an alleged triple homicide outside of Birmingham, Ala., on Sunday. Police say 19-year-old Simeon Gilmore was one of three men shot to death in Pelham, a subdivision south of Birmingham. Authorities are holding 20-year-old Jon Staggs Jr. with three counts of capital murder.

Dareus, the third overall pick of the 2011 draft out of Alabama, is reportedly in transit back to Birmingham and has not publicly commented on the tragedy. Dareus has had a rough life as his father died when he was 6 and his mother became too ill to care for him and his six siblings. Dareus lived with his assistant high school football coach for a time, who was killed in a car accident. Now he is left to deal with the tragic death of his younger brother. The defensive lineman started all 16 games and notched 5.5 sacks in his rookie season with the Bills.
