Tim Tebow Trade: Will QB Request To Be Moved After The Season?

Will Tim Tebow be looking for another team in 2013?

The Tim Tebow saga could take another turn after the 2012 season, depending on how things go with the New York Jets. Tebow is likely to request a trade after the season if he is unable to get a chance to start with the Jets, according to a report from the New York Daily News.

Here’s what a league source told Gary Myers:

“I think he will be a good soldier,” one NFL source said Wednesday. “At the end of the year, I think he will express those concerns to the Jets. He will want to move on. The one thing about Tebow is he is the quintessential team player. He would never do anything that is going to undermine the team. But he’s football-aholic. It’s in his blood.”

Tebow’s contract runs through 2014, and a limited role with the Jets this season could still entice teams looking for a quick fix ... and some easy headlines.

The leap being made here is the assumption that the Jets and Mark Sanchez can keep play like they did in Week 1 for 15 more games. It's not impossible, but it seems unlikely that the Jets will cruise through the 2012 season. At some point Tebow is likely to get more playing time. What he does with that playing time, assuming the Jets do more than just their Wildcat package with him, could go a long way toward determining just how much mileage he has left on the market.

And what about the risk to Tebow’s image? The law of diminishing returns spells trouble for the future of Tebow headlines. Regular trade requests get other players attached to the diva label.
