The television audience for the Thursday night game between the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers was the largest ever to view a Thursday Night Football telecast on the NFL Network, according to Dan Masonson of NFL Communications. The game received a rating of 6.3, breaking the previous record of 6.0 held by the Ravens-49ers match-up on Thanksgiving in 2011.

Fans who tuned in were treated to a defensive show from the Packers’ Clay Matthews, who finished the game with 3.5 sacks. The Packers also turned in an exciting 27-yard fake field goal touchdown in the 23-10 victory over the Bears.
The New York Giants and Carolina Panthers will have a shot at the new NFL Network ratings record when they face off in the next edition of Thursday Night Football on Sept. 20 at 8:20 p.m. ET.
