Houston Texans Vs Jacksonville Jaguars: Betting Odds, Preview and Prediction

Houston faces its second straight whopping point spread and bettors have faith that they can cover this week at Jacksonville just like they did against Miami last week.

Entering the season as heavy favorites to win the AFC South, the Houston Texans will try to take a stranglehold on the division this Sunday with a win on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Houston was a 7-point road favorite and had been bet up to -7.5 and -8 at various online shops.

It didn't take a gargantuan effort for Houston to win and cover as 13-point favorites on the betting odds menu in last week's 30-10 win over Miami. The Dolphins self destructed with turnovers at the end of the second half, and the offense made them pay with 21 points in under two minutes to take a 24-3 lead into halftime.

Matt Schaub and Arian Foster had solid games, and Andre Johnson put up the big numbers with eight catches for 119 yards and a touchdown. The defense forced four turnovers.

The Jacksonville Jaguars looked like they were going to escape Minnesota with a win as a late touchdown pass by Blaine Gabbert put the Jaguars up 23-20 with just 20 seconds to go in the game.

Unfortunately for the Jags, Minnesota was able to get into field goal range and send it to overtime, and then win it in overtime with another field goal. Maurice Jones-Drew shook off some cobwebs with 19 carries for 77 yards.

There isn’t much to dislike about the Houston Texans. Last year the defense quietly developed into one of the best in the league, and offensively you have three of the best players at their respective positions in quarterback Matt Schaub, running back Arian Foster and wideout Andre Johnson.

The Texans are 3-0 SU and ATS in their last three games against Jacksonville and have won each of those three games by at least a touchdown. This game doesn’t figure to be a whole lot different.

As long as the Texans are healthy, look for them to cover a lot of spreads this season, as they did when they went 13-5 ATS in 2011.
