The Cincinnati Bengals defeated the Cleveland Browns by a score of 34-27 at Paul Brown Stadium Sunday.

The Bengals won behind the arm of Andy Dalton, who overcame a rough Week 1 to throw for 318 yards and three touchdowns.

Cincinnati took a lead early when Adam Jones returned a punt 81 yards to put the Bengals up 7-0 just 1:25 into the game.

The Browns would not go quietly, although they would trail the entire game, thanks in part to much better performances from Trent Richardson and Brandon Weeden. Richardson rushed for 109 yards on 19 carries and scored the first two touchdowns of his career. Weeden overcame his woeful first start by throwing for 322 yards and two touchdowns and no interceptions while completing 26-of-37 passes.

The Bengals went up by scores of 24-10 and 31-17, but each time, the Browns had an answer. After a Weeden touchdown pass to Greg Little cut the deficit to 31-24 with 7:18 to play in the game, Cleveland needed a big stop.

Instead, the Bengals put together an 11-play, 58-yard drive that took 5:02 off of the clock that resulted in a Mike Nugent 37-yard field goal that put the game away.

Fantasy studs/duds:

Fantasy owners who were put off by Richardson's Week 1 performance may want to take a second look at him after what he was able to do against the Bengals today. Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green kept fantasy owners happy in points-per-reception leagues, as he had a productive day of seven catches for 58 yards.

And if there is anybody in the world that started Brandon Weeden, get in your car and go to Vegas. Now.

As for duds, if you expected the Bengals defense to pick up easy points on what appeared to be a hapless Browns offense, you are probably left disappointed. That Adam Jones punt return helped ease the pain, however.

Did the Bengals Cover The Spread?

Yes. Cincinnati was a touchdown favorite this week over Cleveland, so the 10-point win means they covered.

Injury info:

Some Cleveland Browns were dinged up in the game, including DB Eric Hagg, who briefly missed time with an eye injury. DT Billy Winn suffered a head injury early and did not return. Backup DL Juqua Parker suffered a foot injury in the third quarter and did not return.

As for the Bengals, they are awaiting word on the status of DL Jamaal Anderson who had to be carted off on the Browns’ last drive of the game.

Looking Ahead:

The Bengals will look to build on the win when they take on the Washington Redskins in Week 3. The Browns will look for their first win of the season against the Buffalo Bills.
