Redskins Vs. Rams, Week 2: Stopping Robert Griffin III Was Key

Stopping rookie sensation Robert Griffin III was the paramount task for the St. Louis Rams on Sunday. Griffin was incredibly effective in rushing for two touchdowns and 82 yards, but he was held to only 206 yards an a touchdown to go with an interception.

Turf Show Times stated that that was enough, as Griffin was forced into multiple reads and did not have an easy day throwing the ball:

That was a really impressive performance by the Rams defense. With just under five minutes left in the game, Washington had the ball, there third-to-last possession, and the Rams defense produced a stop, three hurries on RGIII, induced a penalty, forced an interception that was dropped and then a punt.

Throughout the game, they had Washington’s passing options locked down in skin tight coverage. RGIII was going through his progressions and finding nothing, forcing him to run more than a few times. He was successful on his feet, scoring twice on the ground.
