Orakpo ‘looks as good as ever’ for Redskins

Jeff Curry-US PRESSWIREA first-round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, Orakpo burst on to the scene as a rookie with 11 sacks and kept his production going with 17.5 sacks in the next two seasons. In his fourth season, he managed just one sack before injury.

The Redskins are expected to keep the fourth-year pro out in an attempt to prevent any further aggravation of the injury. Redskins’ coach mike Shanahan is expected to address the media at 3 p.m. ET and provide further information on his injury status. The pass-rushing linebacker is set to miss at least one game, counting him out of the Redskins’ home opener against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 23.

Orakpo was seen with his shoulder pads off, sitting on the sideline as he was being attended to by the team’s training staff. The fourth-year player out of Texas has missed just one game in his NFL career up to this point. He has 28.5 sacks out of his pash-rushing linebacker position since coming to the Redskins.
The Redskins are currently on top of the Rams, 7-3, in the first quarter of play at the Edward Jones Dome.
