Kellen Winslow, Patriots Agree To 1-Year Deal

The New England Patriots have agreed to terms on a one-year deal with tight end Kellen Winslow to fill in for the injured Aaron Hernandez.

The New England Patriots signed tight end Kellen Winslow to a one-year contract on Monday. The Patriots had brought Winslow in for a visit two weeks ago, according to ESPNBoston.com.

The Patriots lost star tight end Aaron Hernandez to an ankle injury in Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals. Hernandez may be out for a month, and New England was looking to fill a hole in their tight-end heavy scheme.

Winslow began training camp with the Seattle Seahawks, after the club brought him over from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the offseason. Winslow was released by Seattle in favor of former Cleveland Browns tight end, Evan Moore, the day after final roster cuts were made.

The ninth-year veteran out of Miami, Winslow, has been productive as a pass-catcher throughout his career. He made 75 receptions for 763 yards and two touchdowns in 2011 with Tampa Bay.
