Khalif Barnes, Shawntae Spencer Out Indefinitely For Raiders

The Raiders will be without Khalif Barnes and Shawntae Spencer indefinitely as the two players deal with injuries.

Presswire

The Oakland Raiders will be without offensive lineman Khalif Barnes and cornerback Shawntae Spencer for an unknown period of time as the two players battle injuries. Barnes is fighting a groin injury, while Spencer is dealing with a sprained right ankle, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Barnes, the team's right tackle, started all 16 games for the Raiders in 2011, and had started both games this season. He will likely be replaced by Willie Smith, a second-year player who started three games for the Redskins a year ago.

Spencer is in his first year with the Raiders, after spending eight with the 49ers. He sprained his foot on Sunday against the Dolphins. Spencer has 11 interceptions and 348 tackles in his career.

The injuries will strike a blow to the Raiders, who were already struggling to start the season. After a 35-13 blowout loss to Miami on Sunday, they are 0-2. Things aren't going to get any easier, as Oakland faces the Steelers, Broncos, and Falcons over the next three games.
