Ryan Mathews, Antonio Gates To Play Vs. Falcons

San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews will be making his season debut against the Atlanta Falcons this afternoon, as the team officially announced. The team will also have tight end Antonio Gates back in the lineup after he sat out last week's win against the Tennessee Titans with a rib injury.

Mathews has been sitting out with an injured clavicle, which he suffered roughly six weeks ago. He was initially listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against Atlanta, but it appears that his condition has improved enough to allow him to play.

Last year, Mathews rushed for 1,091 yards on 222 carries while playing in 14 games. Now in his third season since being drafted in the first round in 2010, he’s still waiting to play a full 16-game schedule.
