Austin Collie’s Injury Is Season-Ending

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Austin Collie will miss the rest of the season with a ruptured patella tendon, according to Tom James on Twitter. It looks as though Collie is headed for injured reserve, just after his first appearance this season on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Collie went down in the third quarter of the 22-17 loss, and had a magnetic resonance imaging test on Monday.

Collie is in the final year of his contract, and the Colts have already seemingly replaced him with the signing of Nathan Palmer from the San Francisco 49ers' practice squad. Palmer played for Northern Illinois. He lost his starting job to Donnie Avery, who is the clear No. 2 behind Reggie Wayne, and T.Y. Hilton has been playing well in the No. 3 spot, meaning Collie was already becoming expendable for the Colts.

This isn’t the first time Collie has suffered a serious injury. He’s dealt with concussion problems throughout his short career, with at least three over the past two seasons.
