The San Diego Chargers have signed Malcom Floyd to a three-year contract extension that will keep him in San Diego through the 2015 season, the team announced on Wednesday.

Floyd is the Chargers' leading receiver in 2012, posting a 17.9 yards per catch average through three games. He's the teams biggest deep threat and target and has stepped up following the loss of Vincent Jackson over the offseason. For his career, he has amassed 190 catches for 3,397 yards and 21 touchdowns. If he were to meet the qualifier of 250 career catches, he would rank third on the Bolts' all-time list in yards per catch.

Robert Meachem was brought in to be the Chargers' new #1 receiver, but he hasn't been able to develop a rapport with quarterback Philip Rivers as of yet, while Floyd has continued to produce, totaling 13 catches for 227 yards, with his lone touchdown catch of the season coming against the Oakland Raiders in Week 1.
