Saints Vs. Packers Game Recap: Green Bay squeaks past New Orleans, 28-27

The Packers were able to hold off a desperate Saints team, beating them 28-27 at Lambeau.

The Green Bay Packers held off the New Orleans Saints, 28-27, in an intense and wild game. The Saints desperately wanted to avoid dropping to 0-4, but came up just short. The Packers improved to 2-2.

Green Bay appeared to be well in control of the game for most of the first half, accumulating a 21-7 lead powered by three Aaron Rodgers touchdown passes. However, the Saints were able to make it a one score game right before halftime on a Darren Sproles touchdown catch, and momentum shifted to the Saints. The Saints scored 13 straight points in the second half to take a 27-21 lead, including this 80 yard bomb from Drew Brees to Joseph Morgan:

Rodgers left the game briefly in the third quarter after getting poked in the eye. Backup Graham Harrell entered the game for his first regular season action, and promptly tripped on an offensive lineman's foot and fumbled on the doorstep of the New Orleans end zone. Observe:

However, Rodgers would quickly reenter the game, and the Pack took the lead back on an 11 yard touchdown pass from Rodgers to Jordy Nelson with seven minutes remaining. It appeared that Darren Sproles fumbled the ensuing kickoff, but the play was ruled down by contact and Green Bay was out of challenges. New Orleans had a chance to take the lead, but a holding call erased a 43 yard Garrett Hartley field goal, and he missed the next try. Rodgers and the Packers offense were then able to burn off the remaining time to preserve the victory.

Fantasy Studs/Duds: Both Brees and Rodgers had monster games. Brees went 35-54 for 446 yards and three touchdowns, and Rodgers went 31-41 for 319 yards, four touchdowns and an interception. Marques Colston caught nine passes for 153 yards and a touchdown.

Odds/Gambling: Green Bay was a 7.5 point favorite, so they failed to cover the spread. For more odds and gambling information check out SB Nation Odds

Injury Info: Rodgers appears to be fine after getting poked in the eye.

Next Up: Next week, Green Bay travels to Indianapolis to face the Colts. The Saints have the Chargers at home on Sunday night.
