Cleveland Browns' president Mike Holmgren revealed on a Tuesday morning radio program that cornerback Joe Haden has already completed his appeal with the NFL for a banned substance suspension. Holmgren's interview was the first acknowledgement that Haden had in fact been suspended and had an appeal. Haden and the Browns are still awaiting a decision from his appeal.

Haden tested positive for the stimulant Adderall earlier this year. He is facing a four-game suspension as a result.

The NFL does not announce suspensions until after a player appeals the decision, if he chooses to appeal. No word from the league offices left Holmgren hopeful that the Browns would have Haden in uniform for this Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

“I suspect, though, if we haven’t heard by now that we’ll have him for the first game,” Holmgren said. “I think but I don’t know for sure.”

Players who are prescribed Adderall or other prescriptions that would run afoul of the league's drug testing program are required to notify the league. Giants' running back Andre Brown successfully appealed his suspension by proving that he had a prior prescription for Adderall. Tyler Sash, Browns' teammate, lost his appeal after testing positive for Adderall.
