Marshawn Lynch Needs To Find His ‘Football Legs’

Marshawn Lynch's status for the Seahawks' season opener against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday remains questionable, but it might have as much to do with the running back needing to get his "football legs" back as it does his back spasms, according to an ESPN.com report.

Lynch missed the Seahawks’ last two preseason games with back spasms, but he has been practicing with the team this week, participating in walk-throughs. Coach Pete Carroll says the Seahawks are taking it day-to-day:

“...he’s aerobically in good shape, we need him to get back his football legs and get him enough reps to do that. We’ll continue to progress throughout the week.”

Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt expects Lynch to play on Sunday and says that his team is preparing as such, according to Seahawks Insider.

“It’s not effecting our preparation. We preparing that he’s going to play.”

If Lynch is indeed unable to play, rookie Robert Turbin is expected to carry the bulk of the rushing load for the Seahawks.

Sunday’s game kicks off at 4:25 p.m. ET and will be televised on FOX.
