The Denver Broncos have released backup quarterback Caleb Hanie, according to Mike Klis of the Denver Post.
Broncos Release Caleb Hanie
The Broncos released Caleb Hanie on Saturday, meaning rookie QB Brock Osweiler will be the primary backup to Peyton Manning when the Steelers come to town on Sunday.

Brock Osweiler will serve as the No. 2 behind Peyton Manning as the Broncos head into Sunday's season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
By releasing Hanie on Saturday, the Broncos prevented his $1 million contract from becoming guaranteed. Klis says that the Broncos could re-sign him on Tuesday, when Week 1 of the NFL season has passed.
At least until then, Osweiler becomes the primary backup for Manning. Osweiler was the Broncos' second-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. With a free spot on the 53-man roster following Hanie's release, the Broncos made a corresponding move, promoting defensive tackle Sealver Siliga from the practice squad.
Hanie has thrown for 679 yards and three touchdowns and 10 interceptions in parts of three NFL seasons.
